Description
Volume II - Episode 80
Where: Cologne, Germany
When: 1 month and 13 days after E-Day, 1:43 am
Her first two shots were deadly accurate. The first soldier went down clutching his throat in a spray of blood; the second took a bullet right between the eyes. The remaining Hexenjägern scattered for cover.
Adrienne lay down suppressing fire while the rest of her team moved forward. If they were going to get The Ancient to the Veil, they were going to have to move quickly.
The Ancient waited in an armoured personnel carrier a block-and-a-half away, ready to be called in the moment the apartment building was secure. They had encountered minimal resistance on the way into the centre of Cologne, the enemy's reinforcements hampered by her team's spell-boosted radio jammer. But she knew it was only a matter of time before the Hexenjägern commanders realised they were being jammed, and would start sending squads to investigate.
She saw a Hexenjägern helmet pop up behind a trash bin down the road, and fired a few rounds at it. Her team were making their way down the street, taking advantage of what little cover the shop-fronts offered, but they were going to have to move faster.
"Dépêche-toi!" she shouted, climbing to her feet and running after them. Hurry up!
Neither side realised it at the time, but it was the first time gunfire had been deliberately, purposefully exchanged between Academy and Hexenjägern forces.
And thus began The Great Apocalypse War.
The war to end all wars.

I was offline for a few weeks, but some days ago I followed your story on your homepage. On the one hand it's a great story ... on the other hand the reader very fast feels sympathy or antipathy for the actors. This is an important feature of a "good" story!!! ;-)
