Description

Crystal received a promotion this week that will send us to Everett Washington by next week. Needless to say a sudden ten day 900 mile relocation has caught us a little off guard. Which in turn has allowed Father's Day to take me by surprise. So I will wish all the Dad's a Happy Day, but this post..., well this post is for my Dad. At several points along this adventure with the kids out to Wizard Island I would find myself thinking. "Wow, I wish Dad was here with us, He'd love this." One such point was "The Phantom Ship". Seeing this from the rim and seeing it up close at lake level are two totally different experiences. Not just this day(Father's Day), but so often through the year you are thought of and held in our hearts, Happy Father's Day Dad. To the kind souls that leave their mark whether a comment, rating, or save the image as a fav, you are very much appreciated, thank you!!! Thank you all that viewed my last image below. thumb_2540062.jpg

Spectacular image! Looks a little like the tufas at Mono Lake here in California. I've read about the hike down to the lake. Sounds like too much for me. Happy Father's Day to Dana Senior.

Thank you Dana and a Happy Father's Day to you too. A big surprise for your move to Washington since the plan was later this summer. :o) An excellent photo and POV of "the Phantom Ship" since I had only seen it from the rim. That boat trip with the kids must have been a very special day. For those that are not familiar - Crater Lake National Park, situated in Southern Oregon, is on the crest of the Cascade Mountain range and is well known for being home to the deepest lake in the United States at 1,943 foot deep. The lake lies inside a caldera, or volcanic basin, and was created when the 12,000 foot high Mount Mazama collapsed 7,700 year ago following a large eruption. Because the lake is filled almost entirely by snowfall, it is one of the clearest lakes in the world. Info from the National Park web site!

I don't think I've ever seen this from this angle; what a stunning view and capture! Good luck in Everett, you aren't far north of me by much at all.

Well, at least you'll be arriving here at a good time of the year! Summer is lovely in these parts. Lots of cool places to take the kids and get great pictures! :) It's nice to see this up close. The day we were there it was freezing cold and raining (which turned to snow overnight), and we couldn't stay outside taking pictures for very long. That was late September. Thanks for the nice view! :) Enjoy Washington, and best of luck to your family! :)
