Extraordinary image, another apocolyptic one!

Wow, I guess you're much closer to the sun there in Chicagoland than we are here--it's HUGE! As Andrea said, apocalyptic indeed...love the silhouetting here.

Not sure how you do what you do with your sun shots but they are always very striking. If I do this my photo would be super washed out. But your postwork takes this shot out of the ordinary into the almost mystical. Very cool...or hot:-)

Is this how it's going to look in five billion years or so when the sun dies out, in turn expanding and enveloping a major portion of the solar system, i.e., reducing our planet to a burned out cinder. But take heart, I doubt if our kind will be around by then. But enough of that sensitive evaluation. This pic reminds me of how the atmosphere used to look over Pittsburgh, PA, during the unrestricted days of all the coal soot in the air you could ask for. Where's my miner's headgear with the light? Finally, a splendid job of point and shoot postwork, with the wonderful use of composition and overall ambience, Mark. Am in a bit of a fizzle today, because I'm really burned out from Father's Day yesterday.

A white hot sun radiating some kind of mysterious cool heat. Most intriguing.

You've used the pixelated blur that comes with using an older, small camera, and turned it into mystery. It's the sort of vibe that belongs in a blended image by Chip. You know the sort of thing I'm talking about. Otherworldly, moody, and deeply soulful. He would add something incongruent ... perhaps an onion ... and then write a story about it. It's the mood of this piece that makes me think of Chip. It's got soulfulness in abundance.

All the tech talk in the world doesn't change the fact that this shot just roars of light and detail and shadows and all kinds of super cool stuff. I'm reading lots about better cameras, etc, etc, but dang, all that gear just gets in the way. Well, for me anyway!! Anyway, another of your very, very great shots of the grand lake you have!!

Mark, surprisingly enough this alluring capture is my favorite in the series. While the others had an exciting and dramatic appearance, this one certainly has a feeling of mystery about it. The atmosphere in this image really helps it to stand alone.
