Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

You could create a dvd slideshow of these 18 rated shots and include the song "Je T'aime" running through the course of the show. Maybe a warning at the start for those with a misguided delicate sense of morality. Excellent shot. :-)

Oh my, making more of these lovely green beetles!

I suppose you can't expect any privacy when you do it out in the open. I hope they take care not to fall through the holes. A stellar image.

And a Ménage à trois to boot :) Or is it just the two? Hard to say. Great shooting though!

Fine pic of the famished beetle as it, and its kind, ravage the lovely Dock leaves, leaving a holey mess in their wake. Oh well, at least you have insects to photograph where you inhabit.

Lovely photo and they are eating there way through this bush! I was blocked from the FlickR version!

Simply gorgeous! I love their beaded antennae and their wonderful, shiny greenness. Such an intimate moment, but then among insects, it generally takes more than a moment, once they enter "factory mode" and start to get the assembly lines rolling. The details in this are amazing and the little critters are adorable, and very, very busy.

haha.. and look how much they ate before the act !

With such a short life span, they have no time for modesty. They have an important duty to take care of.A splendid photo of this reproductive act.

Beautiful light on these, in both pics. It's hard to imagine making love with big suits of armor on, but that's what they're doing. And incandescent armor, at that. I've always been upset that we didn't get incandescence in our biological outfits. Not a jot. But the other thing is that, when mating, they become one rolled up ball (no pun intended), and they just go at it, all entangled and encircled like that. And if those leaf-holes are from them, they had a helluva good meal before hand. Lovely shot, Andrea, you're always showing us the hugeness of nature right beneath your gaze...
