Description
Captured 4/27/14, at the beautiful Renaissance Faire, held at the beautiful Santa Fe Dam Recreation Area, in semi beautiful Irwindale, California.
This is the same owl depicted in Fun at the Faire #15 - Dandy and owl, then held by its handler, but in this instance he let this young man, a visitor possibly dressed as a page, hold the predator for family photo purposes. Hence, in my usual clandestine style, I captured this scene which was posed for others.
This collage, admittedly not as exciting as most in my Renaissance series, was featured today because I'm leaving out as little as possible from my visit.

Look a pleasant lad. A lucky chap to be able to handle the bird.

He looks quite comfortable holding the owl; what a lucky break for him, I'd love to hold one! Fantastic shots of the young man and bird, Harry; what a great trip you had to the faire!

It's sparer (more spare I mean to say) than a lot of your other faire shots, but the two shots are composed strongly, and your hues are very strong backgrounds. In 1, he's mostly in front of the blue while the bird is in front of that saturated red, simple but direct composition; and in 2, either he or you have moved so that both are in front of that saturated red: And it's striking. Esp as he's pointing out to (we presume) the family who's photographing him. The last shot has real expression---another of your expression-ful shots from this event. And it's got music too, because he's on an angle to the backdrop, and it all flows so nicely. You say it's not as exciting as some others, but it has its own wholeness and vividness, and I like it precisely for its pared-down look. More fine portraiture from you, this faire.
