Hi, I'm Marilyn. Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

I'm glad to know that it's not just a boy-thing, since girls are just as good at it, if not better! And what a shot! Just looking at this one image gives a nice hint of what must have been a very exciting and fun day! I can't see the crowd, but I can feel the energy of it, and this shot just sizzles and pops and crackles with its own energy too. This is really great! So crisp too...so much better than the abstract blur I'd get if I tried to shoot this!

A really expressive shot of a cyclist over the ground, with plenty of air beneath him as he soars above it. And his natural "S" curve---the way his body lunges forward while his back curves back---is all poise and motion. The colors are very clear for a motion shot, and, while he's in motion, he seems to be caught in mid air. Another scintillating motion shot from you in this wonderful series, Marilyn. You really have a feel for this type of photography, and I hope you do more. Your surfing shots proved that long ago, but so do your wave shots and other motion shots from nature. You know just when and what to shoot. (When I was a kid, I flew off a ski-jump---one of those curved "lips" that skiers jump off of? On skis? I thought "nooooo problem," and I went off it, went soaring into the sky, and then realized, s___!!! I gotta land this thing! I landed on my skis, but went tumbling down that little 1000 foot mountain, and had bruises the size of Cleveland. In short, these leaps aren't easy. Whoever's driving those cycles must know what they're doing, 'cause if they don't, they're gonna have some major surprises when they hit land...)

Drat! Mark took the words right out of my mouth, or typing, in his eloquent assessment of the daring youngster, soaring boldly above the landscape, in this stunning action shot, Maz. I'm not good at all in these action pics, and it's all by luck if they come out half as stellar as this beauty.

Superb pan with a great feeling of motion. First surfing and now riding, you've become a talented sports photographer.
