Thanks for visiting my homepage here on Rosity. Have a look in my GALLERY, and feel free to let me know your thoughts, or if you have any questions.
Some info about me: I've been working primarily with Autodesk's 3dsMax modeling and rendering software in the CG and 3D animation field for several years. I also have over 10 years experience in graphic design and video editing production. I've worked freelance on various projects that included learning Alias' Maya software (now also an Autodesk product), and have several years experience with the Combustion video FX software. My primary focus these days is on photorealistic render theory, and also pursuing a short film project.
That's about it. Thanks for viewing.

VERY COOL! The wood textures on the wooden spool are especially good. Nice work!

Thank you! It was my first time using 3d-coat to paint textures, and I'm definitely hooked on using it now. Thanks for commenting.

Very nice ! Cool idea, well executed.

Thank you! Almost all the details and realism come from the textures here. The models are very simple shapes.

As beautiful as the mats and textures are, I find the presentation and staging to be artistically on equal grounds. Wonderful image. I like!!!!!!!!

Thank you so much! I would love to take full credit for the idea, but the concept came from an image I saw on google. This was the image I used as inspiration for my scene... http://i88.beon.ru/88/81/188188/67/6313767/2.jpeg

Both images are very good. I think you changed it enough to make it yours and a different message to boot. Still, good job.

Impressive scene, Greg. Love what you did with the thread here. Very good texturing.

It's good to know that you found 3D Coat so useful. I think the spool texture came out very well, especially the lettering. Something seems a bit off about the thread shader; I think it needs a bit of SSS. I don't think I quite understand the surface material. It looks kind like wood, but I'm not sure about those protrusions that stick up every now and then. I really like the fabric. You made it look very soft.

Thanks. Yeah, it's supposed to be wood. I tried creating a displacement map for it, to simulate "splinters" poking up here and there, like you might see in some old, worn wood. However, that didn't turn out quite as expected. There's several of us in the 3dsmax forum who discovered 3D-coat in our workflow, and have been sharing techniques and such. Luxxeon posted some really great tools recently, with great texturing done in 3D-coat, which sparked my efforts here. I have very little experience with it, but I'm really loving the workflow. I agree about the shader for the thread. I should have used some scattering there, as the shadows it casts on the spool are too harsh.

Amazing.... fantastically well done !
