Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

Great humour and contrast :)

Nice shot, if I was selling a car and keeping the money I would got for the Roller, if I was keeping a car and wanting not to have to pay a kings ransom to keep it on the road I would go for the Volvo. That roller probably does about 8 MPG :-). I do suspect if it was driven by a Russian it would have bullet-proof glass and if it was an Arab then it would be gold-plated.

Honestly, I like the looks of your Volvo better than Richie Rich over there. We have them here as well. They often take up two spots to avoid the possibility of getting any blemish from other cars. I can't tell you how many times I have resisted the urge to scratch "Learn to park!" on the side of such cars.

Isn't it ugly? I have never had room for these or Bentley's Give me a basic car for getting from A to B, and stuff the expensive mobile armchairs, and to think you feel you are outside the law because they have money, I have news for them, good job I am not in charge of what is going on, this element I would target first. I think your Volvo is more useful than this pile of overpriced shite. And just how many of the older ones are still on the road? more near 0 that's what, but thousands and thousands of Volvo's are still going strong. I'd have also left the arrogant bastards number plate visible too.

It is nice, but your old Volvo is nicer. but I wouldnt even say thanks if someone gave that Rolls to me. I am very satisfied with my little new Suzuki Splash, we bought a few months ago.

Superb capture Andrea. God bless.

Your comment is first class as is the Roller.

I think it is ugly & definately NOT a dog car.

It's pretty, but I wouldn't want to worry about it either. Great capture!

IF I were to drive a vehicle (4-wheeled) it would probably be smaller than your Volvo. As for the RR - not a chance! I'd rather give that money to the food bank that I work at
Faemike55
in the comment section of faves, I do hope you understand that I consider the Volvo good and practical and the RR as stupid

Interesting comparison between the haves and semi have nots in this pic, Andrea. I can see that you are prudently Spartan in your choice of transportation. I will make no value judgement here in contrast to the other commentors, other than to say that the Rolls Royce is a most handsome vehicle, fit for the royalty. Also, deep down, I know you loathe vehicles. And, what you call a clock is actually designated as an odometer.

I can't understand the fascination with cars in that price range. I would ask hubby, but he would try and explain it, and I don't actually want to know. LOL!

For years and years my mom and dad drove Volvos. Surprisingly, they all handled very poorly in the snow. Give me a 4 wheel drive Jimmy any time! Oh yes, and my other car is a bicycle. :-D

Thanks, but honestly, I would feel like a complete prat in it!

you're so right !! all these oil-eating cars.... too bad !
blondeblurr
That is a real chunky looking beast - not quite my cup o'tea ... yours sounds much more practicable, but the question is, will there be room for me as well ? otherwise I may have to walk or start jogging? ;)) on the other hand, a bicycle would do me fine ;)) BB BTW - we love our beautiful little Subi (Subaru forever) - and a WRX model would even be better, Jeff thinks! LOL

Remember those "My other car is a Porsche" stickers? I'd be tempted.......

I'm with you on this one Andrea and he did miss the lines. I like a faithful/reliable work horse to expensive target cars!

I never was one for drawing attention to myself. I hate having to use a walking stick now for the same reason ! Dependable over flash any day
