Description

We eat most of our meals at home, but there are some occasions that call for a restaurant experience. My friend Ann and I usually take each other out for dinner for each other's birthdays. Hers is in December, and mine is in May. Since Bill and I were on the road for both birthdays, last weekend Bill took Ann and I out and bought us a nice lunch. :) If you're ever in the area, and you like Thai food, you need to try the Thai House in Mount Vernon, Washington. (There you go ... a shameless plug for the best Thai food we've ever had.) The dish in the foreground is Orange Chicken, and the one in back is Tamarind Prawns. We also had Pineapple Chicken Curry, Ginger Halibut, and a lovely cucumber salad. Of course there were enough leftovers for all three of us to have another meal the next day! In order to make all this something closer to healthy, I had mine with brown rice. :)

Ah yes, the brown rice is SO slimming........ It looks delish, providing there is no garlic. I love the crockery!

LOL. And a diet coke! I love Thai food. One of the frustrating things about travel is having some outstanding food there and not being able to get it here. The Ping Porn Restaurant in Chiang Mai served a heavenly shredded pork and shallot dish and a watermelon and orange juice drink.

A lovely capture, but I'm with Ronnie; Thai food doesn't like me very much!

Thanks for sharing your Thai House birthday lunch experience! เมนูอาหารภาคเหนือ sounds intriguing. I'm curious, how did the Tamarind Prawns taste? Did they have a unique flavor?
