Description
In order to shoot through the window of the church I had to stand on a hummock or small mound. I jokingly said to Holm that I hoped it wasn’t someone’s grave. She replied matter-of-factly that indeed it was. Over the years the earth and vegetation had grown over and buried the markers.
For me there is something sad about an abandoned cemetery. Most people hope to find a certain immortality through their achievements or children but it is a losing effort. The elements will shatter even polished granite. Monuments are overgrown by moss and lichens. Sooner than we realize we are forgotten. I know who my great-great parents were only because I have done genealogical research but beyond that, nothing.

Very beautiful collage in a disturbing way it is true in that in time we will be forgotten unless we have done something to achieve something greater in order to be remembered for generations to come. ie Abe Lincoln and John Wilkes Booth.

Life may be like camping. I was taught to leave nothing behind but my thanks. It will be a tricky, as one accumulates so much stuff!

Our short life on this earth is kept in hearts of individual ( I believe there is always someone to whom one is missing) and with a grave in memory. And even that will one day be from the nature added if there is nobody who reminds to us.... somehow oppressive But even in the face of decay is a certain "beauty" from this place Wonderful picture!

There's something that seems right to be about this whole thing. Who will remember me when I'm gone? It's an easy question and an easy answer. Those who I've touched in some way, those with whom I've made a connection. Beyond that, why should anyone remember me? I have a genealogy of my family that reaches back hundreds of years, but that doesn't tell me anything about who they were. What kind of people were they? Does it matter? Not really. All that matters is that I do my best. I hope those people who remember me when I'm gone will think of me fondly. A hundred years ago I'll just be another name. To my way of thinking, that's as it should be.
