Description
After spending the morning hiking up volcanos and across frozen fields everyone was glad to take a little rest and have some lunch. We stopped at one of those roadside affairs with a gas station and fast food restaurant. There was also a “1011” convenience store, Iceland’s version of our 7-11, except here all the employees were from Iceland and spoke English.
The food was tasty and overpriced as you might expect in such a place. Several of our group went back looking for dessert. Despite the cold weather someone asked about ice cream. There was a soft serve ice cream dispenser but the name gave us second thoughts. One of the British women told the cashier what the word meant in English. She laughed and replied that it meant the same thing in Icelandic. I had the pie.

LOL! Oh the pitfalls of trying to find a product name that translates well into all languages! Great catch! And, you're right, it doesn't sound very appetizing!

Well, at least there is no false advertising, what you read is what you get!

I would have imagined it would have felt great to have a huge Krap after hiking a volcano..........

lol, great upload, and your pic is really pleasing too---I'm not sure you were as concerned about the photo as the story, but I like the light in the dispenser, the way it "shines" through the whole thing, it's composition against the dark background, and how it looks like a 'face'. Great little story from your trip. (Ok, I looked up "krap" in an online dictionary, and it says it's "slush". Lol---maybe the lady who said it meant the same as our "crap" was making a comment on their slush. When you google "krap," you get a bunch of links about the same surprise. There was a German composer called Fux, and when we were younger we made every known joke about it. It was pronounced "fooks," but still. Same idea.) Delightful, and I really like your shot. (PS---I agree about Andrew's comment. A riot.)
