Description

Found a lot of these small Midges (6-9mm) at the wetlands the other day. First time I have seen this one with those wonderful antenna. Like peacock feathers. And loved this pose he was striking for me. Quite a grand looking insect. Thanks for looking and all your kind comments here and all my recent posts. -Bruce

Absolutely stunning! The texture of his "floor" and the background really compliment your subject, an outstanding photograph you have made!

Thanks... The floor is a leaf with what i assume is a collection of dirt, dust and pollen. It does look rather interesting.

Are these the same midges that one reads about being so pesky in N. England and in Scotland? I've never seen one before...what amazing and beautiful creatures they are...superb shot!

I suppose they are the same type. Though when I was shooting these they didn't seem to notice me at all and went about their business. They are very cool looking indeed.
