Description

I’ve posted a similar image to this one earlier in my gallery, and I’m likely to post others, in the future. I’m no stranger to the digital collage, but I’ve rarely ever done any that didn’t serve another purpose. This one was created, simply because I wanted to combine photographs of buildings. The near-visible fish are an artistic afterthought, and something of a link to a previous image in my gallery. I suspect that there’s a story within this image in particular. I’m curious about that water and those buildings, and so we’ll see what happens. In the meantime, here’s a picture. In keeping with a little idea that Mark and Tara put into my head, I composed this image of 6 separate images: unlike the original idea, however, I chose the images, thinking of some of the cities that Helle has created and placed in her gallery. I wanted to do something urban, something that crossed the membrane between photography and painting. I wanted to make a city, and so 5 of the images are urban based and architectural…the fish are the dried sardines I’d photographed a long time ago. It’s amazing what one finds in one’s files. It’s amazing how sardines lend themselves to so many things (except pizza). Now that I think of it, I’m pretty sure that there is a story within this image: I’m feeling the telltale twinges of something, and so I wouldn’t be surprised if something oozed out of my creative pores soon: I suspect it might involve a frog. As always, thank you for viewing, reading, and commenting, and I hope you’re all having a great week.

The thing I like best about the six image thing is that everyone comes up with SUCH different styles! If I had put those same six images together I would have come up with something totally different. It's something Mark and I discovered when we first started talking about it. He took six of my images, and I took the same six, and wow ... not even the same planet!! It's the coolest part, that our brains are the part of the equation that make all the difference in the world. I love the art your brain makes, my friend. This is brilliant!

Brilliant. The warmth of this is pleasantly in conflict with the notion of 'flood', hot water maybe. The whole reminded me immediately of Roman Baths. Sardine and Marmarlade sandwiches are best avoided, never mind pizza.

My first thought is of coarse of the great Chicago fire and how it serves as a temporal wall (an event horizon if you will) between the modern city of today and the ghost city or dark city which existed before. The city's previous self. Sorry, that's all I've got.
