Reed and Skylar reach Yuma a little after dark. They remember the good food they had at Rosie's Cafe. 'We have to check it out at least!' say Skylar. 'I'm curious about Leon, her son, that car thieven little so-and-so!' They drive over to Rosie's cafe and it is still open. Once they sit down, Rosie rushes over to greet them with a big smile and hugs for both boys. 'I am really glad you boys stopped by again. Leon has been asking if I've heard anymore from you. He isn't doing so well in prison. Just a little too cocky for his own good, I'm afraid. He's had the stuffins knocked out of him a few times and has been put in solitary confinement. I just hope he learns his lesson pretty soon. I sure don't want to lose him. I've gotta believe there is some good in him!' and with that, she excuses herself and rushes back to the kitchen. 'Well!' Says Reed. 'We're off to a good start! I was afraid Leon might not do so well in a prison setting. Like his mother says, he is just way too cocky. But I think if he can survive, it might do him some good.' Just then, Rosie returns with two heaping plates of her blue plate special. 'On the house!' she says as she set them down along with steaming cups of coffee. 'You guys were so kind the last time you were here. I just can't thank you enough!' and she left again to take the order from the table behind them. Looked like a husband and wife were having a little argument and their son was so embarrassed he was tying to cover his face. After the guys finished their supper, the place had cleared out with only one or two patrons still finishing up their coffee and dessert. Rosie brought over a couple large pieces of cherry pie for the guys and refilled their coffee cups. Then she sad down and visited some more with the guys. They expressed their hope Leon would straighten out before he got in any more trouble and tried to be supportive to Rosie. She thanked them and cleared off their table. As the guys got up to leave they went over to her again and gave her nice big hugs, which brought tears to her eyes. This time, Reed left a couple hundred dollar bills under his coffee cup as they walked out. They weren't tired so they decided to cruise on over to San Diego yet that night. After topping off the van's tank, they hit Interstate 8 and cruised on over to their home city. Skylar drove this time so before they got home, Reed called one of their friends and made arrangements to park the van and the Edsel in a safe place until they could get temporary storage units. They really felt a thrill when they finally made it back home and saw the city lights in the not-so-far distance. I'm sure if any of you have ever traveled much, you may have experienced the euphoria of coming home and seeing it in an entirely new light, like it was changed into somethine better while you were gone. The old saying is true in many instances; 'There is no place like home!' Stay tuned. I have one more episode to burden you with.
