My name is Tara, and I was born and raised in Washington State.
Â
In 2010 I married Bill (bmac62) and retired ... two of the best choices I ever made! :)
Â
In March, 2013, we sold our home in Washington and went on the road in our RV full time. What a blast! There is so much world out there to see!
After traveling around the West for a few years, we got rid of the motorhome and are now spending winters in deep-south Texas and summers in Washington State. Spring and fall finds us visiting whichever place strikes our fancy at the time!

Light and shadows---what a great shot!!

If those walls could speak, I'm sure they would have many tales of human drama to tell. You've captured the gravitas of this room perfectly...

Almost perfect symmetry. Nicely seen and captured. I can never look at a southern courthouse or courtroom without being aware of their mixed legacy.

Indeed. Being there was a disturbing experience.

How many lives were decided at that table, the tales it could tell.

Austere elegance. Mark's comment made me think.

Such lovely muted colors, appropriate, I'd guess for a room where big issues were decided; I always wondered why jurors and judges were never required to sit under a symbol representing the Sword of Damocles...well...something similar: to remind them of the real momentousness of what they're deciding. And the only reason I even mentioned that is because I love this photo, and it evokes that. It doesn't hurt that I'm listening to music from the Battlestar Galactica prequel, "Caprica"...a rather somber piece of music with a rather chilling, "dirty" sounding violin. So anyway, all inter-stellar rambles aside: I love the simple elegance of this shot and the somber tones. It's crisp and clean: very elegant and full of subtle textures and a really super byplay between light and shadow, and to top it all off, it looks a bit like sepia in keeping with the history-vibe-thing. This is fantastic!

Nice shot and POV!

One can easily imagine the drama that has taken place here - if only those chairs could speak of the ones who sat in them. What a classic shot, Tara! I can almost hear the gavel's echos.

We enjoyed our visit to Vicksburg, but I don't remember seeing this. The color, the tone, the ambiance is perfect here. Once can almost feel the spirits of those long gone is this place. Very nicely done.
