Description

While driving though Yellowstone, we would periodically, see signs reading "Scenic Viewpoint Ahead 1/4 mile". On one level, it seems like a strange concept to designate specific spots as "scenic" in a park filled with so much natural beauty, but it actually makes sense because these are the areas where they have built pullouts allowing you to park safely without blocking the road. And though hiking the trails is far more satisfying, the park is so vast that you'll miss a lot if you don't avail yourself of these viewpoints. And they are nice for folks who, for whatever reason, aren't capable of strenuous hiking. Anyway, this is a photo taken from one of those scenic viewpoints... Please zoom.

I can almost smell the pungent 5 needle pines mixed with the flush of stream water adding moisture to the dry desert air. Good capture of explosive sky structure.
