Description
I saw this bird in the Mammoth Hot Springs area of Yellowstone (some of my favorite photos were ones I took in this spectacular area, which I will post later on) & when I took this photo, I really wasn't able to see the greens & violets - it just looked like a dark bird with white markings from my vantage point. It was only when I saw it full size on my monitor that I was able to see the rich coloring. I was able to identify it via a google image search & I'm pretty confident that I got this one right - the colors & markings match perfectly & this species is only found in the American West.
