Hi, I'm Marilyn. Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

This is amazing! WOW! What perfect timing, framing, and everything else! This is one of your more brilliant shots, if you ask me. I mean, seriously, WOW! This one's one amazing shot, and it doesn't hurt that Mr. Wipeout is easy on the eyes. Stunning. This is simply perfect.

Hey that's Dave Ghrol...Nah but thanks for posting this, as wiping out is something I never do. I did it once....let me just check my diary....yes here it is. 21/3/2003. Faulty surfboard wax was the cause that day if I remember correctly! ;)

Now I've got the tune by the Surfaris in my head. Brilliant capture, Marilyn. You are really good at this. As others have said, perfectly timed. He wiped out but he still looked good doing it.

Amazing capture! Talk about the right timing! When you say you wish you could have found him to give him a copy, I hope that doesn't mean that he never came up again! LOL

The first thing I thought of when I first saw the image, depicting the surfer helpless to the elements…….better him than me! Other than that, sensational effects abound in this HB shot, particularly the water spray, frozen in its tracks. The lighting is also fascinating.

Brilliant capture! It almost looks like he's wrangling a big fish!
