Description

The materials for the glass and the water about drove me nuts here, trying to get something that looked appropriate, yet was clear enough to see the mermaid inside. I used StoneMason's castle. The mermaid is Jenny and Robs fabulous creation at RDNA and the background is one of hers too! On the house front, we did not get the house. Since the home we were getting was an FHA Renovation loan we had to have the house inspected by a HUD inspector just before closing to see if the estimate for the repairs was warranted. With the appearance of warm weather and with all the deluge of rain we have had, it turns out the finished basement has a leak. Mold had gotten started and was covering 60% of the basement area. This was not present when we made our offer on the house. So, we had to lay out $1000 on inspections between the initial inspector and the Hud inspector. The HUD inspector was $700 but that was going to be put towards closing costs. Now the selling bank is trying to keep our earnest money too. Please keep your fingers crossed that we can get it back. Whether we do nor not, we won't be able to afford to try again until next year, so we are staying put. That being said, I'm really happy we found out about the issue before the sale went through on the house. It would have been a disaster to have this happen afterwards, especially as I am very allergic to mold. And in the scheme of things with the horrible tragedy of the Malaysian Airliner being shot down and how some people have no home at all or place to lay their head, I have to remember I'm lucky and I should give thanks every day for what is going well in my life and forget the rest. Hope you all are well! Thank you for your comments so very much!

I think the bowl and water came out very well. The little mermaid is perfect in her new home.

A very lovely render, Delaney! Getting glass and/or water to look right is a classic PITA. That's something I'm still struggling with.. I've mucked around a bit with some of Bagginsbill's shaders, but never seem to get the same results he does. Anyway, you did a great job on this wonderful piece - I used to have a couple aquariums when I was a kid, but never had such lovely creatures in them! Yeah, it's a blessing in disguise that the mold problem revealed itself before you committed. Buying a house can be a real exercise in stress management!

Yes, he seems magic with the Poser Materials, but when I try them I hardly ever get the same results. I wonder if it's his enviro sphere? I even downloaded the same tree and lights he was using for a tree leaf shader he was trying to show us, but his leaves were beautiful fall colors and mine were just deep brown. So disappointing!

A very deep and unique idea--- like a metaphor. Fabulous work, Delaney! :-) Sorry to hear about the house you were buying. But you are right, it's good that you found out early before it's rather too late. Maybe there is a silver lining to this. Just hope for the best.

Great idea! Well presented. A certain amount of humor coupled with modern ideas of pets and zoo style imprisonment. Excellent render. Sorry about the house, but as you said, better to find out now. And as for your sentiment on the MH17 it's nice to know people who really appreciate what we have here in the US. I think a majority in our own government are the most guilty for taking for granted what we have.
