Description
Captured 4/27/14, at the beautiful Renaissance Faire, held at the beautiful Santa Fe Dam Recreation Area, in semi beautiful Irwindale, California.
ZOOM worthy.
Now, just who or what is this dude supposed to represent? Reminds me of a faun, at least on top, or maybe some kind of sylvan sprite. A Robin Goodfellow per chance? I thought he was supposed to be the Pied Piper of Hamelin at first, but that chap played a flute leading the rats out of town, and this one is playing the ocarina. In any event, another entertainer who was completely oblivious to us mere mortals in the crowd, avoiding any contact with us, just like his fellow employees. There was a nice spray job of mixed colors around his head and hands, although his sleeves had seen better days. But what is that forestlike flotsam and jetsam hanging around and from his shoulders? And, curiously, are those brass knuckles I see hanging from his neck? Finally, many of these characters at the Faire easily challenged what little I knew about the Renaissance era. Or, for that matter, any of the other ancient eras represented there. Still another reason I was exhausted when I left for home.
Aloha.

What a cool costume. I enjoy going to Renn Fest here in Texas (the big one near Houston), and I'm always impressed by all the makeup and great costumes. I come in costume, but just can't make myself wear makeup because it's just too darned hot.

It's certainly a fanciful costume, but who or what he is supposed to represent escapes me. And not brass knuckles but a sectioned seashell, which is even more mysterious. Fantastic series of portraits of this sprightly gent!

There really were all sorts of colorful characters at this faire, Harry.

In my humble opinion, it looks like a minstrel, and go into the course distract guests with chansons de geste or tunes, to get shelter and sustenance .... blue paint used to give it a more ethereal air as ub pierrot!!!

You very well may be correct in your assessment, my friend.

A Harlequin, which comes from the depths of the sea? His musical instrument is unknown to me, perhaps it will be a shell. I like his costume. Three excellent shots.

I tend to agree with Klaus.... all in shades of blue and green, with ears that look like fins, bits of seaweed like plant life on his shoulders and a lovely seashell necklace, I'd say he is dressed as some kind of sea creature. Fun to see how creative some people can be. Nice shots, Harry. :)
