Polyommatus icarus female. I was so pleased to see her especially as the Big Butterfly Count is in progress in the UK and a new app has made it so easy to do a daily entry. Not very sharp, but at least I noticed her! See her from the other side Here

I always feel that the underside of these is far and away more interesting than the upper, which is usually the opposite in other species. Beautiful shot, I don't bother with the UK butty count in London as there is few to start with. That scenario just fuels my fire for my developer hatred. Scumbags

So beautiful and well done for spotting her and getting the shots too. Never as easy as these captures make it seem, for every one like this there are others that will not remain still long enough or fly away just as the shutter opens. It is so important we protect our butterfly populations and retain and make more provision for their required habitat such as this. Well done Andrea.
