Description
As my last last submission (HMS Warrior) may have suggested, while on my holiday, I spent a day in Portsmouth (the one in Hampshire, England).
This is the Spinnaker Tower, built in 2005. It stands 560 ft (170-metre) tall with three viewing platforms at 328 feet (100m), 344 feet (105m) and 360 feet (110m).
The lower view deck has a section of glass floor which, with a total area of 7.79m2, is the largest in Europe.
The tower itself reflects Portsmouth's historic maritime connections by being modelled after a sail.
