Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!Â
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper! Â
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

Was naturally obliged to. What a cracking shot, I know there are crab spiders all over the capitol, but finding them is usually a difficult task. For me anyway. By the by, I am still wearing the same man pong as when my whispering efforts were fruitful. What it may be is that I don't wear the same clothes as before, not that they are brightly coloured etc. I just cannot wear what I used to. This is due to funny skin, well psoriasis, jeans are now out, I have to wear track bottoms, and they are mostly (And I stress not shell suits) The "Keep away from fire type that tend to rustle when I walk, and have a moderately shiny appearance. Maybe they are having some kind of affect?

Ah! it's our friend the crab spider, they are quite amazing spiders, it's sad that in many ways people often fear spiders and that goes for a good majority of guys as well as girls... I think when they are discovered inside the home it's usually unexpected and at hours when people are least likely to deal with it, films like arachnophobia feed on this fear factor and sadly a good majority of spiders either end up squashed in kitchen towel or floating in the toilet or maybe in the bin in kitchen towel rather than out the door or window... they have nightmares of spiders crawling over them in bed or being bitten even though here in the uk the only spider of note that could be nasty Is the False Widow and how often do you discover them?... how about living in the outback of Australia?.. would you like to clean an old shed out over there without gloves?. Great shot Andrea.

She's much bigger than the ones I've seen here, maybe ours get eaten before they grow that big? Fantastic shot of your garden demon!

She's a big girl but she knows how to accessorize. A lovely flower and a terrific shot.

Love the light here! Really special...and so amazing that this spider can camouflage itself when the time is right.
