Description

Although I have had a Wildlife Friendly Garden plaque for several years I had never entered the competition till this year. I was thrilled to come third in my group in spite of fessing up top using slug pellets! I believe there were over 50 entries, so I am really chuffed. The commentary says "What a fantastic garden to explore! There was interest, both plant and animal, at every turn. We could easily have spent several hours there and not seen everything! Difficult to give many marks for the quality of the grass as it was really only found on the paths but the planting more than made up for this - in fact, it was impossible to think how this could have been improved, especially when told that 780 different plants have been recorded in the garden. The insect life and the birds clearly enjoy the plethora of food on offer and the mature pond was awash with damselflies. It was a treat to find such a haven in the middle of Bournemouth."

What a brilliant collection you have shared with us for this month! I particularly like the light on the bamboo. So in all of Dorset you got the bronze? You should be chuffed but I wonder about the top two. Are they gold plated? And exactly what is a medium? Three quarters of an acre and 780 plants is a medium!? Congratulations Andrea, its about time you received recognition for what is, in reality, a superb work of art. But beware the pitfalls of fame. Next thing you know tourists will be dropping by for a look and probably asking for autographs.

Congratulations on that much deserved award, that is an excellent result and when you consider the number of entries it's fair to say being in the top 3 really makes the effort worthwhile. The garden is certainly a riot of colour and the wildlife love it. People can certainly justify travelling many miles to visit during open days, it seems to be a garden where one can lose themselves and if you are a photographer it's a dream come true. Well done... I know it takes many years to develop a garden and get it so natural looking as this.

How exciting! You must be grinning from ear to ear. :D It's nice to see that there are a whole raft of people who appreciate what you're doing! You and your garden have been on my "bucket list" for years, so now I can tell people "I'm planning to get to Bournemouth to see a friend's award-winning garden!" :)

Congratulations! Third in fifty! That's wonderful! "780 different plants have been recorded in the garden. The insect life and the birds clearly enjoy the plethora of food on offer and the mature pond was awash with damselflies." Wow! Your garden is on my bucket list too. I've been wanting to get back to England since I left over 20 years ago. The beauty of the gardens there is one of the images that comes to my mind when I think of England and yours is absolutely stunning. A jewel in a country of riches. Beautiful pictures! I love the light on the bamboo, the yellow and white of the middle shot, and the frog. Beautiful garden and well deserved honor!

Oh, dear, oh dear, I'm speechless by seeing all your wonders here, my dear. What can give more joy then to be surprised by such a wealthy bunch of flowers, etc..... Oh, am I a fool, I did right away look full size, and made the image bigger, and bigger, so that I could read what was written by the commentary. And then, after admiring all of your place, I saw, you had wrote it underneath, haha. You are a winner in, and on many ways, Andrea!
