Description
This is fire season & a bunch of lightning strikes yesterday ignited some local fires (though none in the direct vicinity of my house). Not a good thing, but it can create some spectacular sunsets. I saw the sky turning colors, so I grabbed my camera & tripod & headed down to the field directly below our house. I took a bunch of photos & tried doing multiple shots at different length exposures, planning to merge them for an hdr effect. But when I merged them, I found the results unsatisfying (due to my lack of expertise, I'm sure). So instead I did it the old-fashioned way - I took the single best shot of the lot & created separate layers for foreground, midground & sky & then worked each one separately to get the best results I could. I may have one or two more shots from this shoot to post...

A very beautiful shot!

A lovely shot, however you managed it; we had a lot of storms here yesterday, and while I heard that a tree got struck by lightning in Seattle and it burned the garage, I haven't heard of any more wildfires; we've had a lot already!
