Description
Greetings Folks,
Legends ploughs onward...
Live now and we move to Bruntingthorpe Airfield former USAF airfield.. (B-57's based there!).
This is 'Canopus', the last Comet to fly.. She is a De Havilland Comet 4c, the most powerful and best of them all..
Former RAF aircraft (as you can see) she has just completed a 'fast run'.. She is kept fully airworthy BUT our Government being dick wads don't allow the public to fly such things as we don't know what to do...
There are very few Comets intact left now and this is the only running one..
As always I've kept these fully zoomable!
Shuttleworth WW1 Airshow on Sunday - A Hurricane due! (not the aircraft) Figures.... Nothing will fly if does..

Great capture Rob!

Appropriate name...Canopus, the second brightest star in the Southern Hemisphere, the Maori's of New Zealand call it Atuatahi, "Stand Alone"....not bad for the only Comet that stands alone as the only one that doesn't always 'stand still '. Great image mate and another true contender for the title 'Legend'......

Very legendary and beautiful aircraft! Don't go out in a hurricane, Rob. Let the stupid weather guys do that.
flavia49

I have always thought of this plane as an Icon.

Sterling POV in this masterful image of the storied very early jet airliner, Rob. I recall that the Comet was the first airliner that had a problem with metal fatigue.

Ah, so your Govvie types are DWs too, huh? Seems to be an epidemic.... Anyway, really nice shot f this Comet, Rob! You have some really great stuff in this series - keep 'em coming!

Brings a tear to my eye... still one of the most beautiful aircraft ever to fly!
