Description

We left on our trip to three national parks (Grand Teton, Yellowstone & Glacier) armed with bear spray & hoping we would spot a grizzly at a safe distance & not have to use it. Well, fortunately we didn't have to use the spray, but we also didn't see as many grizzlies as we had hoped & most were so far away that we were dependent on the kindness of those with high powered scopes to see them at all. This was as close as we got. We had just hiked to the edge of Avalanche Lake in Glacier & a few people were looking over at the opposite shore. The rest of the people in my party saw him moving through the foliage, but my distance vision isn't very good, so it took me a couple of minutes to spot him, even at full zoom on my camera. I was only able to get this one shot off before he disappeared... Please zoom.

One shot? I'll take it. This is great! I'm thinking you probably wouldn't have wanted a shot of him reared up on his hind legs with his front claws out and his teeth bared. I'm all over this one! You saw him, you stayed safe, and you got a picture. What more could anybody want? :)
