Great macro of a scary looking beetle. From the perspective that this shot was taken from, it looks like a face with big eyes, a small nose, and its mouth open to reveal some sharp teeth. I love the angle that this photo was taken at because it draws the viewer's eyes right to this "face" area. Nice composition, too. There's just enough blur on the leaf to give the viewer a point of reference as to where the beetle is without distracting the eye away from the beetle's "face".

An excellent revelation, this vicious face on what one would expect to be a placid beetle! I'm sure it's just placement of hairs lending to the appearance, and maybe this helps in his survival, but it certainly is striking! Wonderful macro!
