Description
The Hekla Volcano in Iceland is known by Europeans as the Gateway to Hell. While visiting the Blue Lagoon I ran into the Roman poet Virgil who took me on a tour of the Nether World. Here you can see the souls of the damned in the Eighth Circle of Hell boiling away for all of eternity.
Or perhaps I just dreamt that.
This is the spa area of the Blue Lagoon. The bottom is covered in fine silica which is used to exfoliate the skin. You will notice a large mass near the center of the image. This is a steam vent. The closer you are to it the hotter the water.
