Wow, what a grandly majestic orchid, and so beautifully captured! Orchids are definitely the queens of the flower world. Congratulations on your big milestone, that's quite a history!

I know I've not commented much in the last several weeks, but I've seen everything you've posted. And, though you posted this Thursday (I'm 3 days late), I wanted to congratulate you on that huge number---3000---and for all the work and dedication and experiment and journey you've given here, as well as going places few of us go, and being willing to engage with subjects that few of us even think about, and turning out scintillating and penetrating visions of them day after day after day. Since you started posting 3 images a day, we've been able to see a whole lot more of your journeys and range. And it's been wonderful. But when the century-marks come, you return to your orchid photography, a subset of your flower photography...and it's a reminder that, amidst all the explorations of beaten-up gloves and shoes, and the complex music of twigs and leaves on striated concrete, and the shadows and fences and fogs and fairs and on and on, you still remain one of RR's superlative flower photographers. This one appears to have a marvelous head-dress on, as if it dressed up for your 3000th; it has a frontal face with a big elaborate hairdo (or hat), with plenty of shadow and a big shining 'face' filled with paint-strokes of rich yellow (against all that dark pink). Your lighting around the edges is beautiful. And you got an almost powdered-sugar feel in the white speckling. And you've toned-away the background juuuust enough to let it speak but not overwhelm the star of the shot. Beautiful orchid capture, and lush and mysterious as always. Congratulations Harry: Even with 3 uploads a day, 3000 is a huge number, indicating a huge output of effort, tireless dedication, coming back day after day no matter what was going on in your life (or in any of ours), and plugging away with subjects and treatments that many of us don't know how to do or think about. A big loud hurrah and bow, and I wish you many many more. Now to some others, from your copious offerings in the last month or so. This was a beautiful milestone...
