Description

Aeshna cyanea laying her eggs into the rotting centre of the scaffold plank that I use as a bridge over the pond. I was going to replace the bridge this season, but now it will have to wait till next year, for the second time. It is becoming slightly risky to cross, although in the event of it breaking the water is only up to my mid-thigh! See a closer view Here

So much is going on in the garden and it's just having the skill to spot it and capture it so wonderfully as you do. I guess walking the plank will be fine until next year then maybe a mini Monet style bridge?. :-)

Remember standing on that and it creaking back in 2009, I was after capturing a water boatman, it started the noise and my aris went so I got off. LOL! Excellent shot of a species I am now envious of. I have never ever seen one of these in London.

What a natural wonderland you inhabit. Now, if any survive, you will have the opportunity to see them hatch. An exciting capture.

This is very interesting to look on zoom, and good of you to wait with repairing the bridge now, Andrea. (btw I have post an answer on your nice comment at that music-machine, but you don't have to go back for reading, I will search for a link to a performance of it. I thought I had it on film, but unfortunately, with my unsure 'ptsd-fingers', I press twice on the same button, which made that I had only one minute on it, stupid me.

You are an amazing young lady Andrea - I don't know how you find these incredible events to photograph and then you and Tizzy25 capture such spectacular results!

It's not the depth of the water, it's the shock of the fall; what if you just moved the plank over to the side and put your new one in? Shouldn't disturb them overmuch, I would think. Or just don't use it, I guess. What a great capture!!

You know, it's bad luck to cross a nursery and risk breaking it! Yeah, wait until next year! I mean, just think about all of the lovely little pre-hatched people in there. And what a marvel of a shot! This is something I've scarcely seen, though I once saw a carrion fly laying her eggs on...oh, never mind...I can still smell it, but I know that in the following weeks, there were some very well fed and very fat carrion-fly maggots positively glowing with good nutrition. Now, onto this shot! WOW! You capture insects amazingly, especially during intimate moments. I love the way you capture life, generally when it's new or about to be new! You are so good a that. This is amazing, and what a handsome, flexible little lady!

Maybe there's something in the air in this part of the country ... I thought the same as Denise. :P She's a beauty, and it's easy to see why you would want to hatch more!

A new one for me! What a superb shot and specimen! You have such a marvellous nature reserve in your own garden. That so many creatures love as much as you! I am curious now I though all dragons laid their eggs in the pond water!
