Description
This HOTLINE TELEPHONE was connected directly to the War Cabinet. It is one of only two such 'scrambler' telephones surviving in the UK. It is housed in it's own soundproofed booth for added security and when in use an armed guard stood outside.......where is it?...well I could tell you..........but then I'd have to kill you. I'll have a word and see if I can get you clearance for tomorrow............

That is one funky looking phone. Amazing what our futures sometimes depend on. Excellent photo.

Cool, nice bit of retro technology, bet it still works as well as the day it was made as well.

Remove the lower half with the dials and you have the phone I called San Franciso with from Sweden in 1978. With no direct dialing, I had to go to the telephone office to make the call. How things have changed - now we can SKYPE, e-mail or telephone around the world instantly. Scrambling the sound so nobody can listen in on the line - that time's encryption. May I guess this is in the War Cabinet? The other end at 10 Downing Street? Unless in some museum as it's a valuable relic today? Nice job. Keeo it up! :-)
