Description

Rob and my little excursion last week brought not one but two Vulcan bombers. This is XM598 one of 3 Vulcans that flew Operation Black Buck, against Argentine targets on the Falkland Islands. It is housed in the Cold War Hanger at RAF Museum Cosford. In an inspired piece of posing, the front of the aircraft, forward of the main landing gear, is suspended over the lower level. It's a strange feeling standing below, looking up at this. The images do not convey the size of this place, but you may get an idea if I tell you....there is a Handley Page Victor behind this and a Vickers Valiant behind that....That's all 3 V bombers under one roof, on one floor......and the ground floor is even bigger....so don't be surprised if I have one or two more pictures to post from this impressive place.....

And its FREE!!! This is a VERY excellent museum, one of the very best I've EVER seen! And I've seen a good few over the years! Only Dayton is better! As Neil knows, below lies an example of EVERY Transport aircraft used by the RAF! And I do mean every... Great shots mate! Rob
