Description
Rob and my little excursion last week brought not one but two Vulcan bombers. This is XM598 one of 3 Vulcans that flew Operation Black Buck, against Argentine targets on the Falkland Islands. It is housed in the Cold War Hanger at RAF Museum Cosford. In an inspired piece of posing, the front of the aircraft, forward of the main landing gear, is suspended over the lower level. It's a strange feeling standing below, looking up at this. The images do not convey the size of this place, but you may get an idea if I tell you....there is a Handley Page Victor behind this and a Vickers Valiant behind that....That's all 3 V bombers under one roof, on one floor......and the ground floor is even bigger....so don't be surprised if I have one or two more pictures to post from this impressive place.....
