Description

Back at the Newark Air Museum, although I am a ' dyed in the wool ' piston pounder fan I can still appreciate a good jet. This is one I really like and always have, it's the SEPCAT Jaguar. This is a Jaguar T2 trainer and it's one of those aircraft that looks fast even standing still ( to me at least). The lower image started out as an exercise to remove the cones and blue rope that surround all of Newarks exhibits. I then got a bit 'carried away' and wondered if I could convert the aircraft to single seat 'Strike Fighter' configuration, which I prefer.....a successful exercise?

Great photography! I would say that your conversion to a single seater was an outstanding success.

Very cool and well done, Neil. My only question, is the single seat version actually shorter than the dual? Most aircraft that are converted usually just strip out all the stuff behind the pilot, put another seat in and extend the canopy. You actually cut the fuselage behind the pilot and moved it back. As an artist, I totally approve (LOL).

Good point, the Jaguar T had the second cockpit added making the aircraft longer, 'stripping back' as you suggest would have left the rear pilot sitting on the engine.....a real 'hot seat'..... :-)

Looks good and it's a whole lot cheaper than doing it like the manufacturer did!

Another Airfix model I've missed when young. So, might as well enjoy the real thing, amputated or not! I really had to look real hard to see what you had done. I still don't really trust my eyes. I do see a red and blue "target" gone missing somewhere. The front seems to be in the same location compare to the farm house. The front wheel's been moved back. But I just can't figure the rest. Have you moved the background, wheel and front? Amazingly well done! Excellent work! :-)
