Description

Captured back on 1/17/08, early AM, somewhere around the neighborhood. Much ethereal postwork went into this, so it's not the original. Adieu.

I don't remember many flower shots from you that are postworked like this: This is beautiful. You have an almost "irised" effect---referring to the cinematic closing of the lens-iris on a face, as in the old silent films where the director would suddenly close the iris on a face so we could see nothing but it. Only here, you didn't black out the surrounding (with the iris), but you darkened it, leaving the center of the flower in full light. An almost underwater look; and you softened as well as darkened it, giving the ethereality you speak of. I see this is another from your archives---2008: I don't know if archival shots give you more 'freedom' to experiment---ie, because they're older---but they do with me. It has something to do with not feeling an obligation to the actual sight, because the shot was taken several years ago; so I can do whatever I want with it. That's just me, but you did a wonderful job with this. And, in a gallery filled with scintillating rose-detail, this gives us more of a dream-rose, a rose of the imagination. Beautiful job, Harry. Well I'm at almost 90 minutes, so I'll stop here for today. But I'll be back. I did 9, again, and tried to get a broad sampling, if I could. Wonderful as always to be here, Harry. A splendid collection.
