Description

Hi. I'm commenting this week, and will get to you all. In the meantime, a few images. This was drawn in 2010, as an homage to Andrea's drawings and sculptures of feet. I've shared it with a few artists but never posted it. When you see it, you'll know why. Andrea's feet are MUCH better, funnier, more anatomically correct, etc. But it's the thought that counts. Picasso: Eat your heart out. Two more images follow. Thanks for stopping by, people! It means the world to me. Have a fine day! Mark

Mark, for sure Andrea is going to be pleased to see this fun homage to her that you created. I must say that you gave me a smile and left me wanting to see more ;)

Those feet are funny-they definitely have personality. I like the big toe overlapping the other toe.

Hilarious! This would make a great chiropodist's advert: "Do your feet feel oppressed and downtrodden? Let Barnacle and Partners relieve the pain" Did your mother not warn you about wearing those French *uck me heels to go dancing?

LOL! I think you've done a masterful capture of the essence of feet, and ankles, and toenails...without the smell. Well done, you!!!

This is obviously a runner, or a Bosnian. Have you ever noticed that Bosnians have really fat, splayed toes...mostly fat, sausage toes. There's a whole study of feet: apparently you can trace a person's ancestry by the shapes of their feet. There's a method of fortune telling as well: it's kinda like palm reading, except the other palms are read. And I have no clue as to why I know this except for the fact that feet are strange, endlessly fascinating, and they come in handy in fiction. Hmmm...feet coming in handy! Given particular anatomical attributes, I'd say that's a somewhat bad pun. So anyway, this is great and I see an Andrea influence here: don't you just love sympathetic resonance? It's like a whole discussion taking place between Rendorosity galleries, one of those discussions that really gets to the foot of the matter. Frank Herbert stole a word for that. "Usul": the strength at the base of the pillar with ugly feet. I mean, if feet look nice, they probably foo-foo feet that spend all of their time propped up on pillows while Beulah peels grapes or something. I have no idea where any of this is going, or even where it came from, but there you have it, and needless to say that I love this image. It's so simple, so profoundly artistic, and it makes me think of ancient Roman graffiti. Those guys and gals etched some amazing (and rude) graffiti on things, and yeah, these look like the kinds of feet emerging from the bottom of a toga, worn by cartoon-Kilroy's gawky cousin, beneath the words: "Severus Secundus Secundus is a wussie-boy with Armenian toenails" or something like that. I think in Latin, that would sound far more incendiary. This is great and I love the way in which it's actually brilliant and playful at the same time. And so demure! Just look at how that one toe is so shy that it needs to hide! Brilliant!
