Description
Taken on the Sunshine Coast of British Columbia. There really should be a separate genre category for fungi since they really aren't flowers or plants, but I couldn't think of any other category that fit better. Maybe a general Nature category would be useful. Anyway, there is plant life in this photo, even if it's not the main subject...

Shrooms should have their own category, really. Great capture of this odd collection of stuff strewn together

I like the abstract composition, the division of space, the different colors and textures and shapes. Well seen! This is the sort of thing I pass by with barely a look. Terrific image!

Well, I may not eat for a month! It's like an eggs benedict that went reeeealllly bad. Big, bold and beautiful. And slimy and oozy and---what is that thing oozing around on the bottom of all that white? Looks like a big leave-shaped worm. I don't try to identify the parts of fungi, esp when nature interacts with them: It's just a big fungus party to me, and it's unique. But it's like a big egg dish to me, with bacon (the red stuff on top), and tar, and paprika, and that wormy thing, and lots of droplets---like they keep it on ice until served. And you've composed it so that the fungi is all on top, and the space is on the bottom: It falls on us. Great choice. Yucky and wonderful all at once. The droplets are the garnish: They give the final "kiss" to the shot.
