Description
Captured 4/27/14, at the beautiful Renaissance Faire, held at the beautiful Santa Fe Dam Recreation Area, in semi beautiful Irwindale, California.
More various and sundry shots of the ubiquitous marketplace and customers.
A ZOOM would be most rewarding.

They certainly do appear to have a little bit of everything at this marketplace, Harry.

I'm amazed at the color palette of photos you've taken at this renaissance faire.

Fascinating array of goods for sale; and more ample customers! I do love to see the costumes. Excellent shots, Harry!

Stunningly colourful to be sure.. And an excellent selection of stalls.. Shame about the vastness of the people here.

Well this is the last of the marketplace shots in this series that I haven't commented on. What a riot of color, form, mix of people, etc. A real carnival. Here you have more contrast of people with objects. The first is a big contrast of that guy with the lineup of bottles and other things in front of him (on our right). It's such a fine contrast. And you have him lined with the shaft and top of the umbrella. A fine shot with so much interesting detail. In 2 we have the perfume bottles again, and the fascinating array of people with their backs to us. And we get to see the guy behind the counter better---or woman---all concentration over their work. A very concentrated place, that booth: It looks like serious stuff is being done back there. In 3, a gun shop! I realize the guns are old, and I honestly know nothing of guns through history, so can't say if those are indigenous to the time or not. (FIrearms were invented in the 1200's or 1300's, but I don't know when they made it to common use.) Anyway, what a fascinating contrast to the usual wares at this fair. And some real horizontal elements in a very vertical series; and a guy behind the counter---I assume he's a real guy, and not a statue---who looks straight out of an 1800's Western Saloon! (WIth the name "Jeb".) Great face in a renaissance gun shop...with two big people in front, making great presences for the shot. Love this shot. 4 is a gathering of 4 ladies, I think; and the center one is so fascinating---she appears to be concealing some kind of small sword behind her back. I don't know what that is, but it doesn't look like it's used for friendly purposes. (It looks like a huge sewing needle!) And an amazing blouse. And the lady to her right is in all black. What an amazing combo of people. (Are those buttons they're selling, back there---I mean like campaign buttons? With hearts on them? In the Renaissance? One of the joys of these fairs!) And the last one has a woman with the wildest backpack---it's got a raging car from, I assume, a video game? Something like that? Maybe a cartoon car-figure...What a great thing to see in this fair. And she's framed by the women to each side, and the bottles give a continuum to the shot, horizontally. Another fascinating formal study, with vivid hues: This marketplace series is terrific, Harry. Very fine work!
