Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

He probably envisioned you taking a picture from eight feet away or something. :P He has beautiful eyes. Just lovely. I like the color shot, because it's a shame to hide those nice brown eyes!

Brilliant pic

Excellent capture of a worried man! You normally make them look so relaxed. He has a slight resemblance to Alistair McGowen I think!

Adobe_One_Kenobi

What is a pirate's favorite letter of the alphabet? R. Give him a bandanna and a cutlass and he's ready to go. The mono rocks.

He looks mock-fierce to me, certainly there is a playful aspect to his expression. Great candid!

I agree with auntietk :)

Superb capture Andrea. God bless.

He was happy to agree to the request but clearly he is very conscious of the situation and if he is AA it would be understandable.. as often the case that many have other issues secondary to the alcoholism and if they are abstaining.. it can leave them raw and feeling vulnerable, but he has passed that experience. I might add this is not from any personal experience but stuff I have understood by those who are alcoholics who I have known through the years... good many of them artists!.. lol

Wrong AA, Mark! The car people!

His eyes are an intense shade of brown, somewhat rare, I suspect, which is all the more appealing! It's funny because I suspect this is a mixture of things, including camera-face: it's like you caught his smile before it was done percolating. Either that, or he's doing the tough-guy vamp thing. That's the thing with someone doing the man-vamp expression for the camera. It takes a minute for it to gel. And that's what makes this image so perfect! It definitely looks like a staged, pantomime snarl just on the verge of becoming a smile. Great shot!

I see the nervous part but the aggressive looks evades me!
