Description

Nearly all of the Mississippi Kites have left our town to begin their slow migration to Central and South America. About two dozen of them were seen near the town's water tower a couple of weeks ago, and birding sites say that they migrate in large groups. So they are gone now. This is my favorite shot of my little "Junior" as he looked down at me from my Pecan tree shortly after his first flight. His "home tree" is being sawed down today, as it was struck by lightning in the spring and is dying. Fly proud and free, Junior. It was an honor to chronicle your birth and fledging. Try zoom for better detail. Thanks for your views and comments.

Such a beautiful bird; do they return to the same sites in the spring or do they keep moving around?

Honey got there before me, I was also wondering if they returned to the same spot, shame if he does, he'll have no home :( I am pleased you documented the development of this handsome creature Tex, Fantastic last look at our little friend in his tree.

Junior, with his owl-like face, stares down at you in curiosity as you snap his wonderful countenance, Maria. Nice documentation on his development. He is sure to remember you.
