Description

Hello again, friends! Another picture from the Viking Promotion Tour of the "Sea Stallion" in Berlin. Picture was taken at the East Harbour, in earlier days the main harbour of East-Berlin. This was once the frontline between West and East and so a part of the Iron Curtain and the Berlin Wall. The houses in the background were part of West - Berlin. Please notice the writings of one of the houses: "Koenigliche Dampf - Waschanstalt Gumbrecht & Co" and "Cuvry Str. 1" Once this was the greatest steampowered laundry in the German Reich in the emperor`s time, and it was directed by Luise Gumbrecht. Under her commercial partners were the great Berlinian hotels and the german emperor`s family. She must have been a tough lady, because she was not only the CEO of this laundry but although she guided the whole german laundry organization from the top of this building and she directed the organisazion`s newspaper. So I for myself call Mrs. Gumbrecht as "Mother of all Sweat Shops" and my inner eye shows me a lady looking as Queen Victoria... Hope you like this pic with this old-fashioned viking longboat in front. Thanks for your interest and your comments for my older pics. Feel free to send some new. Bye till tomorrow, billcody

Klasse Foto, da sieht man das Schiff in seiner vollen Pracht. Finde die Häuser im Hintergrund auch sehr interessant, wie z.B. die alte Dampf-Wasch-Anstalt.
