Description
I was in the Bowling Alley last Saturday, just finished lane dressing when I glanced out the window. I saw what appeared to be a strange aluminium boat, running in on the tide, very close to shore and on a collision course with Fort Perch Rock. A few yards from the Fort....bump...it ran aground..but didn't stop. It ran up the beach and parked in front of the Fort and it's been there all week......I took loads of photos and since we don't have a Truck Division at The Plant, I've given them to Bill Dare, foreman of the Marine Division, they did a good job with the Type VII U-Boat so I have high hopes for this....may take a couple of hours though !

Neil, that would be perfect for my drive to work each day!

You lucky DUKW, Neil. Looks like a DUKW converted for some kind of recovery work, but the glass dome has me stumped. Observation? Weather work? But a really cool vehicle! With those wheels, it must be a petrol guzzler! If/when you find out, let us know what it's purpose is. Very good photos! :-) Pardon for my not being able to reply to your latest posts - Tuesday was over 13 hours work day, Wednesday was 11 1/2 hours, home after 22:00 on Thursday, and another late one last night. Today, I backed up the entire computer system at school after newspapers warned of a new trojan horse that locks computers and destroys files. Tonight's first time I can really looks at Renderosity.

I would imagine this is a very useful work platform for Marine Engineers needing to get to those awkward places. Looks well maintained. Interesting pic!

Well its a new one on me, looks like a modern DUKW, but.... Who knows.. Impressive to be sure, and very well spotted.. London has them doing tours on the streets, the OLD DUKW's! They are painted yellow! Rob
