Description

Jedburgh Abbey - on the Scottish Borderlands. The south side nave and some medieval gravestones. King David had the church constructed as a challenge to the English that he could build a magnificent church on the borderlands. The English did not resist the dare and ravaged it - numerous times. Edward I even used it as a headquarters on one of his two campaigns.

Such a beautiful and amazing structure - fantastic detail, and a testament to it's builders, as with many long-standing works of art. Superb photo, Roxy!
