Description

The New Forest in Hampshire, in southern England, was set up by William the Conqueror around 1070 (a few years after he landed in Britain) as a hunting estate. It's now a National Park where cattle, donkeys and ponies roam freely along the roads which run through the park. They're not wild, they all belong to people who have the right to keep them there. They're rounded up once a year, checked over by vets and then auctioned. Janesmoor Pond is not far from the small town of Ringwood.

Very picturesque and tranquil. I can see why William would have wanted this for his own!
