Description
A fountain in the park that sits in the middle of Place des Vosges. Places des Vosges is the oldest planned square in Paris, built in the early 17th century by King Henry IV. It is the prototype of all the residential squares of European cities that were to come & it's residents included Cardinal Richelieu & Victor Hugo.
When my friend Allen & I visited Paris a few years ago, we ate at a restaurant at Place des Vosges on our first evening there. I had eaten there years before & they are well known for their steak tartare, which I order whenever I eat there. Allen, who doesn't speak French, thought he was ordering a regular (cooked) steak, but the waiter brought us two steak tartares. Allen tried to explain to the waiter that he had brought him the wrong dish, but the waiter - in typical rude French waiter fashion - insisted that no, there was no mistake, monsieur had ordered the steak tartare. Allen, who was used to American waiters who will generally do anything to please a diner, didn't really know what to say. The waiter seemed to have no intention of taking the dish back, so I offered to call the manager over, but Allen didn't really feel like making a scene on his first night in Paris, so he decided to try the steak tartare & ended up eating it (it was very good). So he got to taste a classic French dish & got the rude French waiter experience as an added bonus! Unfortunately, since tips are already included in the price of meals in France, Allen didn't get the satisfaction of stiffing the waiter...

Lovely scene and fountain ( maybe correct the photo to 100% horizontal, so the water will not flow away from the basin?)

What a lovely fountain! I like the way it comes out the holes in the bottom of the dish. It's a rather satisfying setup. While I'm sure I could get myself in loads of trouble in France, I absolutely know not to order steak tartare! I don't care for meat in general, and if I'm going to eat a hamburger, it better be cooked within an inch of its life, then smothered in cheese and lettuce and pickles and tomatoes. I want my meat to have as little flavor as possible!!

A beautiful photo, excellent POV to capture the colorful building behind the trees and I enjoyed your story!
