Description

From googling and research, I believe this is a female Horse Fly. The inset shows the same horse fly from above. I finally found a fly that didn't fly away just about the time I got focused on it. :) Playing with my 250D Close Up Lens, which is like a filter that replaces the UV filter on the lens. It magnifies, but makes it hard to get a crystal clear shot. Zoom to see the facets in the eyes. They don't show up in regular view. Thank you very kindly for your recent views and comments.

It’s funny normal I see a cool render and sometimes from the thumb think it’s a photo. This was the other way around Looks almost alien. I think I can admire the skill as I find it hard to take clear shots of people. Cool shot

Yep! female for sure, the males eyes are closer set together and are more rounded, and on some species have different coloured bands. Fantastic shooting Tex.

I envy and feel for those of you that have these flies. They look incredible, but hear they can give a wicked bite. We don't have them in Cali. But for the sake of my macro shots I wish we did. Great looking shot of this stunning insect.
