My first thought was that she looked just like Foudroyant, on which I spent many happy holidays as a teenager when she was in Gosport. Then I looked at her history, and, shiver me timbers , it IS Foudroyant! How exciting!

Fantastic old ship Jeff :)

What a magnificent ship. So glad you built it after the War of 1812. Andrea's connection is very interesting as are the little bits her Indian builders embedded to identify her origins.

It's interesting how everyone seems to love an old ship like this, but almost universally hated the cruisers in Denise's photo. It's worth remembering the countless young lives that were abused and lost on these old ships. Young kids were bashed, raped and sent up the rigging in massive seas.......only to fall to their deaths on the deck and have their bodies thrown overboard. Unlike the craft in Denise's photo, these old sailing ships were 'floating death' back in the day. Just my cheery 2 cents worth! Happy sailing!!!!!!!!!

I love it how Andrew holds back and doesn't let out what he is really thinking. He has a great gallery and always wonderful information. A spectacular old ship and an amazing set of rigging!

I love all boats, especially these old masted beauties; the shape of them with all the lines is magnificent. Lucky you to get this shot!

Lovely, thanks for showing us Mate!!! On a side note, its sad that we managed to keep some of these old vessels (great), but a short while ago, the last Destroyer that took part in the Falklands Battles was sent to Turkey to make tin Cans.. No attempt was made to save it.. By no-one, not even the IMW! Sad huh? I saw it in Liverpool just before she was dragged off.. Rob
