Description
After running around, and around, for quite some time, Dexter climbed up on this tree root that had fallen sometime ago. He stood there for just a few minutes to see all that was around him. He explored, sniffed, played with a stick and was so very ecstatic to be free. He would go off a little way, then come back.
After about an hour, he went off for the final time. Did I feel a little hitch in my heart? Yes I did. I do worry about them. I wish I could always protect them. That would be putting the I first. In the past I have posted two photos and stories of animals that a rehabber had kept for years in cages. I was able to work with those animals and watch the absolute joy in their eyes when I set them free. I made a promise then to all the future wildlife that I would always let them be free if at all possible. I wish you could see the life, hope, excitement and wonder in them when they realize there is no more cage.
It makes it all worth while.
