Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

Impressive capture of the herd eating and the Castle in the misty background.

cool capture I expect to hear some cool but creepy organ music while seeing a bunch of tourist heading towards the castle and their doom!

The mist makes it appear almost imaginary; beautiful scene and capture!

What a beautifully moody and evocative shot! I'm pretty sure if I walked over there my life would change in ways I cannot now imagine. Time travel, disappearing castles, wizards ... who knows what might happen?

Love the layers of luminance here.
danapommet
It zooms well and returns a elegant silhouette of the castle!

The diffused light is so photogenic on this glorious landscape, excellent!

Love the castle in the rain (or mist).

Ok, see, you people got "heaths". We don't have heaths in America! I mean, we probably 'have' them, but we don't call them that. That's a really British name, and it evokes JUST what this photo evokes. Mystery, hazed beauty, rich grasses and hills, gentle hills in the background, a layered feeling, animals grazing peacefully...you got it all in this hazed-light capture. Zoom brings it all out. And you gave a lot of sky on top, to "ground" the shot, as it's so immersed in mist. (Not easy to ground a shot with sky, but it happens here.) Very moody and evocative. A beautiful shot of your countryside. (I can't help but think of the "blasted heath" of King Lear, whenever I think of a heath. The old man railing to the gods, on the stormiest night in English history, I can't help but think of those raging words, "let fall/Your horrible pleasure. Here I stand, your slave--/A poor, infirm, weak, and despised old man..." ((Becomes more and more relevant as we all get older.)) "...But yet I call you servile ministers,/That will with two pernicious daughters joined/Your high engendered battles 'gainst a head/So old and white as this. Oh, ho! 'Tis foul." A head so old and white as this---not so fast, there, Shakespeare---I'm not THAT old!)
