Description

Vespa crabro The Hornets in an old Woodpecker hole in a tree next to the path at Arne RSPB reserve, Dorset I managed three pictures before I chickened out. I had to get as close as I am to this screen, and I didn't push my luck!

They are so big they look menacing! A cracking shot Andrea! I saw your comment about Angel's trumpets. They are such gross feeders that it takes a lot of tomato feed to get those flowers going I have been told. It was from a gardener at Kew, and there plants where covered in flowers! The scent was overpowering!
